responding to devany's post:

renee is the "read only" member and i'm the communicator on punaweb. she doesn't much care for all things internet/computer related.

as far as joey, we met him (and others) at the dinner we were invited to after the BIAN sale. it wasn't until liz and mike pointed him out and told us his username that we made the connection. it was one of those, ah hah! moments. it can be confusing--i've been there.

Tis me! Joey - didn't know it was a unisex name till I fell in love with "Joey Heatherton stretched out on Serta Perfect Sleeper" - who could or want to sleep!

Have been a fan of Gnomes since I saw the first printing of Wil Huygen and illustrator Rien Poortvliet, "The Secret Book of Gnomes". Even named our house "Gnomehome". Big Island called with the voice of it's version - Menehune! MenehuneHome!

I try to be anonymous as much as possible - until till I start talking - then no-one can get a word in. Seems I say "I'll give you the short version" a lot - but it never happens!

The quiet and better looking half is Bonnie!

Thought I'd bump this thread to pass on an interesting commentary about anonymous postings:

It's aimed more at newspapers, but applies to all online discussion.

Gosh, I have seen so much on TV that being live and on tape doesn't even bring out the better part of an individual. People don't have to be anonymous to be rude and insulting, or worse. I have chosen my PW name from the fact I am Peggy and worked in microwave radio and have been an active ham radio person since before I owned a computer. And as for the numbers of posted messages, it might make me more kind to a newer person (everyone seems to have the "try the search feature" down). All else that matters is what is said and what is the attitude.

Here's why I'm "birdmove": I was playing my daughter a game of chess when she was about seven I guess.I was winning the game. It was pretty cut and dried. Suddenly she grabbed a piece and made a totally illegal move (which would have really helped her situation on the board). When I asked her what the heck kind of a move that was, she replied it was a new kind of move she called a "birdmove".

I went on and coached a kindergarten through sixth grade chess club for five or six years. Our little team hosted the Washington State championship one year and had to have it at a nearby high school because we had over 600 entries.Which reminds me......any chess clubs in the Puna area?
