clever names?
#1
inquiring minds want to know:

if you have named your house, property and/or estate, what is it and what's the meaning behind it?

this is the first home/house that i have ever named. it's called NA HOKU PA. na hoku pa, according to pukui/elbert, is a constellation of 5 stars in a circle.

Ours is Hale Pomaika'i - the House of Good Fortune.
We felt so lucky to find our own little piece of Hawaii at last. :-)

Makana Mai Ka Lani - Gifts from Heaven. Over the years we sit out, take in the view and feel truly blessed.

We also registered it with the state.

Our realtor knew a Hawaiian language student at UH who helped us.

hey, david: there's a "clever names" thread in the farming/gardening forum for pet names.

We currently live in a home we refer to as the Dog Fur Palace. I had 2 Chows, and they really shed. Our Puna home will eventually be Hale Kiele (Gardenia House, I believe )when we find it. I can add the plants, remind me of my granny.

Life goes on, with you or without you.

Ours was nicknamed by my good friend Doris, and it's kind of stuck "the Green Retreat". We painted it the light green color like chocolate chip mint ice cream with white trim......it's the happy place I go to on chilly snowy nights like tonight! Now the husband has painted the decking chocolate brown and it looks pretty awesome!

Warm thoughts to all - Aloha - Dot
