What Has Worked Well for You (Lately?)

Sitting evenings in front of a roaring fire, curled up on the couch with Hubby, just being quiet. He head is busy but the silences are wonderful.

There are roses in the thorns if you look for them!

We've been working hard at hand-clearing more jungle, and yesterday opened up a new area to discover a mini-grove of 3 beautiful mature ohia's. They've been buried in guava and tebuchina as large as 6"! Made piles of wonderful mulch, and then rewarded with finding such a treasure!

aloha. yes it still lives. we found it yesterday while visiting several PWers at whittington beach. while there were only 3 out of some twenty-something of our immediate circle of friends there, food and fun were a plenty.

while playing a game of uno, an australian man came up to the group and asked to borrow some toothpaste for his mask. he talked about diving/spear fishing the day before and the bounty of 8 mahimahi that he had caught. jokingly, i said, "and you didn't share?". he said that he did share with some others. the day progressed; we continued with the card game; talked story and ate lunch. a couple of hours later, here comes the fisherman with his booty. he ended up sharing 2 huge uhu (one red one blue) with the group. wow!

10-15 minutes later: a hawaiian man came to the campsite with a bag full fish. he was offered a beer; the group was offered MORE fish. eek (we declined)! come to find out, we (renee and i) know a lot of the same people (o'ahuans). he said that he had been opihi picking and seaweed gathering earlier--gave it all away to someone he knew.

a little while later, he hailed down a hawaiian kid and gave him fish. the kid gave him a "bud". the group was offered to share the "bud". again, we declined. the kid says he's going to go and pick up ice for the fish. comes back later with ice for the hawaiian man's fish.

end of the day: hawaiian man is kissing the womens' foreheads and saying that he loved us. walked him to his friend's car; talked story some more and off he went.

a booty-ful day for all!

Good time camping with friends and enjoying the beauty of the island. Wish the weather had been nicer but all in all wonderful time! The Uhu fish were beautiful and looking forward to eating some!! Sad that some that were planning to be with us got sick. Bright side.... There is always next time!! Hey guys..... where to next trip??

The rain. Since the drought ended, my nursery plants and veggies are looking much better, and I had an excellent day selling at the HPP Swap Meet last weekend. Nice to meet Punawebber csgray and hubby there, too. Extra bonus!
