Blog help needed
#1
I am very interested in starting up a blog that will document our move from Oahu and the entire process of the move and building of the new home in Puna. From moving to purchase of land to clearing of land to etc etc and show the entire building process that others can find usefull. Plus give kudos to those that were in the process with contacts which make it easier for those that are interested in the move to the big island like we are doing. A sort of lessons learned and one that others can also contribute to it.

My problem is I need to know which is the easiest blog programs to use here on the internet since I am not as smart as a third grader in this world of computers hahahahha.

I have looked at a lot of members blogs and other blogs I have found on the net. I find all of them to be great and would love to be able to provide this type of information and get more involved in the blogging world.

any suggestions are welcomed.

Aloha Don,
LOL...I've wanted to do the same thing, but I'm the worst tech guy that I know of. My wife had to set up my facebook page and I only learned to use email a few years ago..LOL
So if you find something REALLY easy..let me know.
Best, Tony

Are you both wanting a free solution or something you're willing to pay a little for each month?

There are plenty of free blogging services. You can try something like www.blogger.com. The upside is it is free and there are plenty of help and support. The down side is that you will have their advertising on your blog site. Also, your URL will be something like http://YOURNAME.blogspot.com.

Or you can purchase an inexpensive web hosting account with a reputable web host and they will provide you with two or three of the more popular blogging software that has auto installation. So if you are a newbie you can set up and install it yourself. A good webhost will also be happy to help you or do it for you. The downside is it will cost you a small monthly fee. The upside is you won't have outside advertising on your site, you can use your own domain name like http://www.YOURNAME.com. Another upside is that if you decide to add a website or do another blog or a totally different website with a different domain name you can use your existing web hosting account at no additional cost.

I am a web host and I can help you if you like. You can e-mail me at Dave@DaKineHosting.com. If you mention PunaWeb I'll give you a discount on hosting or I will create a custom hosting package specifically to your needs.

Best wishes to you both, your website looks great! You might have already stumbled across this website, but it was a great inspiration to me when we were building: www.moonoverhawaii.blogspot.com I never did get a chance to meet them before they moved, but I felt like I was right there with them building!

We built on the Puna side about 2 1/2 years ago, it was an adventure to say the least (and we're still married). We're not there full-time yet, but hope to be someday (just like everyone else that is on the mainland) I got so many great recommendations from the Puna-Webbers, it was a great help.

Good health, happy building and blogging - Dorothy

Yes Dot I saw that site before I planned to move Puna and it was one of the sites that stired my interest. I understand they needed to move back to the mainland. oh well I had hoped to meet them one day. Who knows maybe.... glad you liked the blog

best bet is to get a gmail account and then that comes with Picasa Web Albums. Store all your photos on Googles cloud servers for free. You can probably put few 1000 photos up with captions under them... Then just link the stages in different folders and post the links to your blog!

Have fun!

blogger.com is good, as is blogspot.com. If you have your own domain, wordpress is good and you can get a free blog from them as well.
