Building permit for mobile home
#1
I've heard that portable structures on skids or wheels don't need building permits. What restrictions are there, if any, for constructing a small house on skids so it can be moved?

When I checked, if it's a residence, it has to be permitted. If it's simply a temporary structure (non residential) to support construction, it does not need to be permitted. If it fits the definition of a temporary recreational living structure (travel trailer type thing) it does not have to be permitted so long as it's not on the property for more than 30 (or something like that) days. But depending on who you speak to, and what words you use, you will get different information.

Can enquire on affordableportable- I talked to him 2 years ago and he said he's in with the County because he doesn't push the limits-

Pushing the line is what causes issues along with a healthy misunderstanding of the definition of Trailers, Recreational Trailers, Manufactured Homes and Factory Built Homes.
