Lets just hope you don't encounter LFA (little (tiny) fire ant). Then you would wish you had scorpions instead of ants.

The best I think is boric acid available from ace / true value called roach perfume it's in powder form. Just mix some of that in hot water in sprayer and spray the perimeter of your home especially on the posts if you live on post and pier home. Also, I loaded up the wall with it. just drill small holes your walls (sheet rock) and pump in the powder or if you have single wall spray the crap out of wall base. I can't remember but I think it takes a lot to kill a dog so... I think you pretty safe if you spray it in on your walls.

Boric acid works for ants just as well at termites.

The metal ant traps used to work for us, but then the ants decided they were coming anyway! The only product we have found that works is Grant's Kills Ants. Home Depot has it. We use the little bait stations.

They don't like clorox bleach. It's only a temporary fix...but it keeps them away for a few days. Terro also does the trick for a little longer period of time (say maybe a week or two). Orange oil works also for about the same time period as terro and is alot safer to use when you have pets around the house. But it's also alot more expensive.

In any case you can never win with these guys...they come back too quickly.

Simple Green sprayed on insects, especially ants, kills them dead. Then you have clean counters when you wipe it up, along with all the dead ants. The last house we owned had ants so thoroughly that the only way we got rid of them was by having the house painted by someone who caulked every single nook and cranny, and then put on three coats after power washing with TSP. After 5 years we still had no ants inside.

Anyone laughing @ Force's statement besides me ? ...

" I had the same ants when i lived at hilo terrace, and at first i left them alone because the roach problem there is so bad i figured ants cant hurt. Well, i quit leaving food out and they started biting me, "

The correlation I am making here is if you have them and DON'T feed them they will seek out new, "fresh" sources : )

Sorry Force, it just prints out in my brain li dat.

Are the ants worse this year? We have been inundated also. tried everything - except the simple green - so far. Clorox, vinegar, ant traps, etc.

I am now trying Tim's (from the farmer's market) EM-1 so they dont have anything possible to find. But we have them in the bathroom shower too alot.

No worries. I kinda stated it that way to make people laugh, but in actuality, thats about how it hhappened. I kept my recyclables outside and did my dishes and such as soon as they got dirty. When the food source dried up, i did get bit a lot more. Im grateful the boric acid did the job. That apartment was crawling with those ants before i got motivated enough to kill em.
