Why some people don't buy in Pahoa
#1
My friend was in Island Naturals in Pahoa yesterday and heard a customer who bought a Nancy's yougurt for $ 3.69 (sale) in their store in Hilo the same day and decided to buy one more in Pahoa on the way home. But it was not on sale in Pahoa.
They allow the customer to have the same price but no one went to change the price on the shelf and the cashier said that it happened before with Hilo-Pahoa price difference.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to check Hilo prices first.

Island Naturals in Pahoa has its ad taped to the door as you come in the entrance, with the Nancy's Yogurt sale price. Others I know just mentioned that to the clerk and it wasn't a problem but yes, they should post the sale price and change their computer since the ad is for the full month of September. [:I]

Damn good price. Nancy's is the BEST if you haven't tried it. Chock-full of good bacteria and very sour, like Russian yogurt, which is how I like it. YUM.

Have to admit - never tried that yogurt. But DTisme said "the BEST",so I decided to try.
Guess what? I was told they decided they were not going to have it on sale and their store is different than the one in Hilo.
I am glad I work in Hilo and don't have to drive there just to buy food.
But after what I heard I'd rather take a bus to Hilo for shopping if I ever get a job in Pahoa.

What's the point of being the same "chain" if you don't have the same sales?? Weird!

Are there so many naive about the fact that volume of sales directly impacts the needed level of mark-up? You are not being gouged, you are being offered a product or service priced on the cost of providing it. Lower volume equals higher cost to provide.

P.S. So don't patronize your local businesses to save a few cents, soon they will not be there.
