Anyone else missing KHBC ???

The choice now IMO is not for the music you like, rather for the advertisements you hate the least during the day.

Sad to ( not ) hear them gone.

Before moving here, I knew I was in HAwaii whenever I heard "Kahikina" speaking from the rental car radio on KAPA-FM. When we moved here, I eagerly tuned into KAPA, but Kahikina was no longer there. Crap! Then one day I was scanning the radio stations and heard his familiar voice saying "It's time for things I never know!," one of his regular features. He had moved to KHBC, and I again felt at home hearing him. So yeah, now I feel adrift again...

Sounds like a change for the worse, but honestly I never listen to the radio in my car. I have an iPod with thousands of songs on it and my own custom playlists and genius playlists ... and no commercials. I really don't care for radio commercials. (I have listened to KAPA and I did appreciate the humor.)

I'll miss KHBC most on Sunday mornings (loved Maggie Heron's jazz program), and when public radio does their pledge drive. Also missed will be the interviews Mynah Bird did with various local folks.

Since my Mom is living alone she listened to him every week day, I knew during MynahBird's show I could get things done... without Mom calling and saying "what are you doing? Whats going on?..."

I gotta laugh, 'cause KHBC was on our wake up radio (something about waking up to that huli huli rooster!)... and it wasn't until I saw the paper on Wed. that I realized the buzz I was hearing in the morning since Monday was not just something screwy with the radio/frequency/transmission..... 3 days of waking up to buzzzzz & not even thinking that the station went off the air!

I was SO happy to find a radio station that I loved when we moved here, and now it's gone. Where else could you hear Hawaiian music, John Prine, Little Feat and jazz all on one station? I hadn't liked a station so much since the '70s. I'm SO bummed.
