Bad Fire In Hilo??
#1
I was in Hilo Town today and on my way back to Puna, I noticed there were streets blocked off by Police...Kinoole to Bayfront and Waianuenue to about Haili. I smelled fire kinda smoke and saw an ambulance with no lights flashing. Traffic was diverted far from the actual site where the work was going on.

Anybody know anything about this?

We were driving into town and saw the smoke on the rise above KTA....hard to tell where it was coming from. We kept driving and finally ended up on the bayfront. The fire was in the building next to Cronies. At first we thought it was Cronies...but folks at the scene said it started on the second floor next to Cronies. There were emergency vehicles all around the area...including the alley way behind. Lots of smoke. We heard on our scanner that there was one ambulance called for someone with burns on their back. We msut have been there on the street for at least 30 minutes...and the smoke never let up. It will be interesting to see what exactly caused this.

The front page of tomorrow's (Monday) Hawaii Tribune-Herald has the info, along with pictures. It apparently started in the rear of the Moses Building, within Moulton Custom Furniture.

Why am I thinking Cheech and Chong's "Up in Smoke"? - from the links & the description of location - wasnt that where Roger Christie's THC Ministry was?

I hope everyone who was injured is okay. And I am sorry for the loss of some one's property.
