#41
wow, the new little guy, though tiny compared with it's twin, is holding its own. No, I don't remember if it is a he or a she but it sure is cute. May do fine afterall!

Just an update... I have observed both new baby lambs nursing from mom, and the littler one is no longer evidencing scours, so I am thinking it will all be fine. Yay! Buster is taking 8 to 12 oz a feeding now so I think within four or five days I will be able to move him to the back lanai at night and not feed him till morning. If that works, in a week or so he will be out in the stable with the rest of his cousins and aunties. Ahhh the joys of farm life. Smile You just gotta love these little guys! Everyone is growing so fast. The first born is four times the size of the newest ones and is only 14 days older at most. Wow....

Well well well.... our little baby Buster slept through the night for the first time. I am sooooo happy. He is taking the bottle well, settling down in the kennel and sleeping comfortably with all the kids sourrounding him on futons and sleeping bags for this week, and playing happily with the other sheep during the day. Methinks he is headed for sleeping in the stable soon. It has been nice to have a baby to cuddle though. Especially knowing I don't have to put him thru college! LOL

Still making it through the night!
One of the kids left the access gate open so our sheep are out in the main fields with their babies. A little sooner than I had planned but I know they will come in for the night if I grain them. AND we set out plenty of pineapple fruit that we gleaned off our pineapple stripping project. The big rams like them so I am guessing the momma's will too. Interesting the chickens are picking at them a little but with no gusto.

Our little Buster is so precious. He is out today following me around like a puppy. I walk, he walks. I sit, he finds shade and sits. He is beginning to nibble bits of grass as the other lambs are doing so I guess socializing him with them most of the time is a good thing. I imagine I will be bottle feeding him for quite a while yet. Leaving him with the othe sheep until dark, I don't have to go looking for him any more. I just bring my flashlight an call out and he comes running! It is so cool. And he loves to just snuggle in my lap, nuzzling my neck, sniffing at my lips an even licking my glasses. It's amazing what a little lamb can do for you!

Peggy, I look forward to your call. I have to hit town early in the day but probably around in the afternoon. How long are you here for?

All this week. Hope to call soon, and work the rest of my schedule around. Cory has been sick (food poisoning?) so is stuck close to our rental home.

Pam -

When can I come visit and pick out my little ram? Or have you already chosen for me so you could dock, castrate and tag the others? That's OK with me. How long before he can leave mommy?

Have been having trouble getting my guys here to do docking and castration so everyone is intact! You can come pick out your little ram any time. They will not be weaned for some time yet so even when you pick him out, he will be here. We can discuss that when you are here.\

Smile
Just give me a call 345 8440. :

So... our little Buster spent his first night out in the stable with the other sheep. He appears to have done very well. Had several people up looking at the sheep and their babies. In answer to questions, yes I will sell some of them but I will not sell the entire herd. Prices will be the same for everyone. If you want a male intact you will need to let me know soon as we need to castrate soon.

Note that all the sheep have a St. Croix mom or a mixed St. Croix/Barbados mom. These were all fathered by a brown male Barbados St. Croix mix.

Lamb prices are (since several of you have now asked):

ALL WHITE: $75.00 ea.
ALL BROWN: $100.00 ea
Black and White: $100.00 ea.
Tri color white/black/brown $125.00 ea.

There you have it.
Note that our Buster is NOT for sale. Sorry but he is a family pet now. Smile
