HPP Cool Towards Proposed Park
#41
Those of us with homes in close proximity to the proposed park's location are very ambivalent about it. We're torn between the somewhat self-sacrificing, noble mindedness of benefits to the community-at-large and the realities of a 20 acre park and all it entails close to home. I and my family live on Maku'u - two blocks up from the park's anticipated location. Anyone living on, or near, this stretch of Maku'u is well aware of the speeding, racing, tire-spinning and off the road car crashes which occur with great frequency on our street. And, in the last few months, we've had more than a few burglaries on and off of Maku'u - with some being reported to the authorities and some not. Add to that, just about no police presence whatsoever. It is small wonder that most of us living near the proposed ground zero - want very little to do with the proposed project. We're hoping that if the park goes forward, our concerns regarding security, traffic and an effective police presence will be heard and addressed.
