11/19 weather
#1
We just got the first crack of thunder here in HPP. The way the air has felt all afternoon would have me thinking tornado if I was still living in Tornado alley. Anybody getting rain yet? Weather underground's wundermap show a lot of potential activity up towards Volcano and between Hilo and HPP.

I've been watching the radar. Heavy rain in the Hilo, Keaau, HPP area. Calm and dry in Pahoa.

No rain at 16th and Maku'u either. My dogs sure are pacing though, which usually means big storms, and our new neighbors' dog busted out of their fence into the jungle at the first rumble, hope they find him before it gets too intense.

Rain was very heavy north of Hilo. I mean I stood at the post office at Papa'ikou and looked at my car and my stack of mail in my hand, and made phone calls from the porch waiting to catch a break. Raining so hard that clouds of mist were bouncing off the parked cars, water puddling on the road.

Got nice and wet just getting back to car, drove home and the old scenic route had a river running down it. The bridge by the transfer station was swimming in water and waterfalls cascading off the makai side -- never saw it like that before.

Cats are hiding from thunder and lightning. (On pause now.)
Good night for a hot cup of tea.
