As I sit here with helicopters buzzing overhead...

WHAT? Never organized? Laid down and taken it? This is only a Puna issue now? It falls into residents of Puna's hands to improve this situation? WOW. That is a very bold statement from someone who lives far outside Puna. I challenge you to back this statement up with detailed instances.

I had know idea that ALL of Puna had such weak and unorganized residents. Congrats to all of us who live in here! 40,000+ residents KathyH. Really?

Kathy is right. Puna is poor at organizing. One reason is that people get too focused on a single issue - such as helicopters - and won't step up on other people's issues - perhaps roads or medical care. In that manner we have several small factions focused on their own special concern and not helping each other on the overall. Divided we fail.

I have to agree with Kathy & Rob. The reason this has gone on for so long and has not received the same attention it has on other parts of the Island or other parts of the State is this District doesn’t matter. The powers that be know full well that its just whinning with no teeth behind it. The day this District starts to matter or the issue reaches a level where it impacts them just as much; that’s the day things will change. Until that happens, don’t expect anyone to care how much helicopter noise negatively impacts you because you just don't matter.
A hard fact of life, but that's what it is, like it or not!

I suggest you re-read Kathy's statement. Since when do poor and never hold the same definition?

She did not say Puna in general was poor at organizing which is your response Rob. She said Puna residents never organized. You fail to see the difference in that statement?

How does EVERYONE in Puna fall under the unorganized category? I guess Puna residents are lawless drug smoking criminals also since Puna carries that picture too.

I don't argue the fact that Puna has poor organization. Along with most of the Big Island I might add. What I do strongly disagree is the statement NEVER and PUNA RESIDENTS.

Puna overall needs a better representative. It is absurd to say it's the residents who are to blame for the problems here. Last I checked, we are not in a third world country, we are apart of the County of Hawaii, are we not? Just because other districts get more or less money allocated to improvements or helicopter flight paths doesn't mean that all Puna residents just lay down and take it. Saying that about 40,000 plus residents is ridiculous.

Bob mentions this has gone on for so long. What has? Maybe in some of the more rural areas of Puna but HPP certainly does not have a problem with low flying tour helicopters. Green Harvest, yes. Big difference. I hear almost no complaints from friends and neighbors about tour heli's.

Agreed. Especially since they tend to have tinted glass...

Well said. I have stopped being amazed how pissy people can get on this forum, and how rightous about their opinions they can be.

I am sorry Kathy. You are right. We 40k+ Puna residents are all unorganized and lay down and take it. I had no idea you carried such knowledge about this many people. It is actually incredible that you make such a generalized statement and expect no one to stand up and say something. And when one does, it is nitpicking.... That's fair!

Lengthy response from someone who does not wish to nitpick huh?[Big Grin] hmmmmm. That's what I expected from ya. I point out a untruthful statement and it's nitpicking. What is it called when you folks do it. You call it TRUTH......

God knows we all hear everything you have to say about what people type or mistype. You say never, Rob says poor. Never and poor are big differences. I call it out and it's nitpicking?

Remember this when someone else states something that isn't true or off base while you prepare to slam on them, which has happened time and time again on here. But we don't wanna nitpick...... God forbid someone outside your folks little circle calls a spade a spade. I love these double standards. What ignorance.

Oh, I forgot to mention helicopter somewhere in there.
