Is Pahoa really at on 45% of normal at 56" through Nov 30? Where can i find the YTD total so it includes the december rain so far.

Page 2 of the Tribune-Herald gives that data, BUT it is based on the rain guages at the Hilo Airport. I have noted for many years that my home guage almost always shows a higher rainfall (I am 3 miles mauka of Pahoa). So you will have to bear this in mind and make some adjustments in your calculations.

Well I for one hope this trend continues. Our fruit trees went wild this year with all the sun. I can't remember when every tree on our property produced huge amounts of fruit. Normally what happens is the trees flower and then the rains come and wash all the flowers off the trees. Not this year....And yet we still had more than enough water in our catchment throughout the year. I hope we are in some changing weather pattern in the islands that will continue for a long time!

Macuu - that's because Puna's weather was more like Kona (where you usually see lots more mangos than here). If you actually lived in Kona, on the other hand, you might not feel the same way...
