Someone just broke into our house and took 2 laptops, jewelry boxes with inexpensive stuff except for hubby's wedding ring. A neighbor saw an old red jeep sped off as she was walking down the road. Male driver with blonde female passenger. According to the cop that came he just came from another location where a burglary was interrupted because the owner was home.
Be extra vigilant everyone!

I'm really sorry to hear that
I hope they catch them.
May I inquire as to the details of the break in? Did they break a window or a door to gain access?

I'm starting to think the HPP website under reports burglaries and thefts. For what reasons I don't know. I made a post a few weeks ago about how these sorts of crimes seem to be increasing in HPP just from what I have heard happening to my neighbors. Someone pointed me to the HPP website and the stats that say this is not the case. Now I'm not so sure about those stats. A few days after my post a cop came to my house and informed me a neighbor a few lots away just got broken into. In the last six months, all of my neighbors except one have got burglarized. Some more than once. I'm thinking I'm going to be next.

I've been robbed twice this year. The cops don't even fingerprint or follow up. I brought them a list of everything stolen twice and they keep saying they never received it. I've lost about $10k this year, tons of construction equipment I can't afford to loose or replace.

Bystander, the stats we publish every month on the HPP Neighborhood Watch website come straight from the cops. If they are under-reporting crime, it is because people are not reporting incidents to the police. As a matter of fact, we even show burglaries in which nothing was taken on our website because any illegal entry into a home gets counted as a burglary for statistical purposes.
We told our members to expect an increase in theft and burglary over the holidays because criminals know that this is a time when people keep more valuable items than usual in and around their homes, often conveniently piled up in one central location under the Christmas tree. If more people would bother to join our efforts, this would be less of a problem. It is a well-established fact that burglaries are rare in areas covered by our trained Block Watches. We have a meeting the first Saturday of every month at 9 a.m. at the HPP Activity Center. And yes, we are meeting on New Years Day. Some people are serious about doing something besides complaining.

SBH,
The first two links go nowhere and the third leads to obituaries. Can you post valid links on this subject that lead to actual information?
