Seriously?
I am always polite to moderators and would try to honor their requests, but I have to know the person is a moderator. I have no idea who is on the committee.
Even so, it is not right to tell me to give it a rest when I'm not doing anything but responding to a topic neutrally and the other person is manufacturing the meaning of my comment to mean something it did not.
If a person read the links, the discussion is on whether a joke can be recognized when it is said straight faced on the internet with no smiley and of course no words saying it is a joke.
No one said anything about how a smiley is the only acceptable indicator, so no idea how Tom came up with his interpretation.
KathyH..... can’t take any heat uh.
You are beginning to remind me of Charles Shultz cartoon Peanuts
Lucy would set up a booth with a sign saying psychiatry 5 cents then proceed to solve everyone’s problems. At the end of each cartoon every character could only scratch their head and say “Good Grief”
Simply ask you what time it is and you will proceed to explain the meaning of time and how clocks are made. “Good Grief” KathyH
freestate comes up with a good topic then you chime in with:
“Interesting, and both are new to me.” [smiley face]
You admit that you know nothing about this but you MUST analyze it anyway with this:
The one reason comes to mind why a person wouldn't use a smiley, is if the intent is to make the reader question whether it's a parody/joke or a straight comment.
If you tag it with smilies, you lose that ambiguity, which can be used to provoke thought.
I agree 100% that if you want to say something is OBVIOUSLY a joke, then be obvious and use the Smilies.
Smilies are not enough to make a joke funny if it isn't.
Well ounce again we get KathyH’s words of wisdom even thou she admits she knew nothing about the subject. Good Grief.

Back to the topic- Godwin's law.
One thing is to compare to Nazi, the totally different thing is to
post a link.
It could create a traffic to the Nazi site.
Though Nazi would be puzzled seeing the interest coming from Puna.
They would be "like" :"Was ist das?"
Hmm..Almost sounds like pigeon.[

I can statistically say 100% of the time if our 20-something hanai kids are here for dinner, bodily functions become part of the conversation no matter how much I say STOP!! [

I actually thought mdd was making a joke comparing the Punaweb Operating Committee to the Illuminati with his "illusive" comment.

Let it create traffic for that site. They don't have ads and they may have to pay for the bandwidth.Click often and they may have to pay extra... [
