Possibly Puff City or Aloha Luigi in Hilo????

Tried finding them a few years ago when our 1/2 Italian niece was here...

That little bakery on Kinoole "Short n Sweet" might have them. They have some really elegant stuff too - individual creme brule, etc. I have an issue with their prices, though. I purchased a few of the cremes at 1/2 price - toward the end of the day and then the owner came out after they were packaged and all rung up and said they were not 1/2 price - that the new cashier made a mistake. Well at that point they were already in my hand and I wanted them for a nice gathering, so paid the nearly $5 each. I am kinda boycotting until I'm not pissed anymore. LOL

Having said that, they really have some pretty things in there. Smile

hrooster, come to Scuba Sunday and bring a bunch of canoli's... we'll love you for it and this is a great way to invite people to your place for more good stuff! (Okay, so my maiden name is Govoni, and I would love the chance to enjoy a canoli!).

...Unfortunately Scuba Sunday always falls on the wrong day and at the wrong time....

Maybe we'll bring some to the next PunaWeb party...

I paid $50 for a regular-sized layer birthday cake at Short n Sweet, which I thought was exorbitant, but it was my birthday, so I figured I was worth it. When I picked it up, the cake was gorgeous, but with the first slice we noticed that the top layer had clearly fallen while baking, so they just piled on more icing to flatten it out...I'm talking more than 1/2 of fill beneath the normal icing layer. Clearly whoever made the cake knew there was an issue, and rather than making it right, they tried to pull a fast one. The icing was greasy, the cake extremely bland, and the lemon filling was runny. It was a huge disappointment, and an embarrassment to serve to my guests.

I also picked up a loaf of day old bread there, but in the parking lot I noticed it was actually moldy, so I brought it back inside and they gave me a fresh loaf (which was delicious, I must say).

I won't be back...

What's a cannoli? Guess I'll have to look it up. At first I thought it might be a small kind of tent thing but given the responses so far I think I'm well off track.

Cannoli. I think it's a street in HPP; between Shower and Paradise.

Thanks, Greg. I'll have a look tomorrow on the commute! Can't imagine why I've missed it all these years. Oh, Canoli - isn't that something you wear when it's raining?

(seriously, I've never heard of cannoli or canoli). I'm obviously missing out.
