When the guy with the cigaratte hanging out of his mouth is refilling your propane tank next to a large "No Smoking" sign.

when you're sitting at a super busy intersection in a heavily populated area waiting to pull out onto the highway and there's no traffic light.
Then later when you're on the hwy headed toward Hilo town,
in an unpopulated area,
and have to stop at a traffic light that turned red because ONE truck has entered the intersection to the highway.

When you're up late at night, the coquis are quiet and you hear the humpback whales in the ocean. OK, you have to be fairly close to the cliffs, but it's wonderful to hear!

when you wake up early in the morning and it's dumping rain.
And it looks as if it's going to rain all day.

Then two hours later it's full on sunny and beautiful...
