The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant
Mdd7000 has real paranoia issues and cannot stay on topic. Who the heck spends that much time and effort to make unfounded accusations about everyone whom he does not agree with? Please move on.

What is a sockpuppet? I'm envisioning Shari Lewis and Lambchop. I loved Lambchop. But really, what is a sockpuppet in this context. Sounds absurd.

You are right. It is absurd. It is an internet slang term for people that register and post under more than one name, generally to stir things up or to try and prove that they are right. If you do some reading on this forum and other Big Island forums, you may be interested in what silverpenny did and how many she was already kicked off because of that practice. Other than IP address, they are usually caught because it becomes quite difficult to keep one's story straight.

Sockpuppet police, what's your prize? Is there a Sockpuppet award? Do you get a Sockpuppet medal? Smile

Just for the record Punaweb has no rule against anyone using more than one user name. This has occurred over time for a variety of reasons. Sometimes a member has forgotten a password or the user name and I am unable to retrieve the info so they set up another user name. Could be a variety of reasons. Anyway it is allowed.

There is a difference in internet terminology between "sock puppet" and "alt". An "alt" is an alternate identify. A sock puppet is generally considered to be someone who creates an alternative identity to pretend there is support for their positions when there really isn't. Kind of like singing Happy Birthday to yourself. It is generally considered inappropriate.

I am going to post some info soon regarding netiquette and ask people to review the rules of Punaweb. You can find them here:

This topic is supposed to be about a proposed biofuel plant and is wandering way off topic.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Back to the bio fuel plant.

Isn't that the reason we have all of these Eucalyptus trees planted all over the island ?

Wasn't there a plan to harvest these trees some day ?

The technology is now available to turn these trees into fuel.

Amazing !!!

I don't see how we can rationally oppose this new technology.

I do see opposition if it creates more collective harm than good, i.e. harm to the environment, equating to harm to the inhabitants. There are still many unanswered questions like how pervasive will chemical use be? How to irrigate in a drought stricken area? What impact will massive microwave radiation have on the inhabitants? Who will it benefit? etc...

This will get traction once fuel costs get above 6-7 $ a gallon imho.
Many countries have artificially raised the price of fuel by adding taxes to establish parity between fossil fuel and "green fuel" to support this emerging industry.

With all this talk of raising revenues........ we may want to be careful what wish wish for
