Mauna Kea, the Sacred

The BLNR conditionally approved the TMT's CDUA. However, the board granted the TMT's opponents request for a contested case hearing.

This decision has imposed conflicting conditions on the TMT project. They have up to 2 years (10 years thereafter) to complete this project starting from Friday. However, they can't start work until the contested case hearing process is completed.

And to add;

"And you say that it was a lot worse in the past, but who told you that story?"

I've experienced it myself, even in my own brief time here. And also from reading history books, or are they part of the technology conspiracy? Would you prefer to live in the Stone Age?

Please, keep criticising modernity and technology on a forum on the internet using a computer while you live your comfortable life thanks to technology. It gives me a chuckle.

It's not inconceivable that astronomy and technology will one day save life on this planet from destruction (by asteroid collision), so it can have its uses.

Again, can you tell me how life is better? Say, for example, how is your life better than the Hadzi?

And as I said, I am a wrench in the machine.

Even the stone age had technology; The problems historically aren't with technology, but with humanity. The adze was a great implement for providing shelter, food and transportation. It was a human that discovered it could also be a weapon. Hence the millennium old saying; "If Adzes are outlawed, only outlaws will have Adzes".

How is my life better with technology? I live longer, in more comfort, free from currently preventable diseases, not hungry, not thirsty, I can travel ... I'm sure you get the picture. These are all things I want so please don't tell me I only think they're better. If you want to live without technology, be my guest - the Amazon is waiting.

Never heard of the Hadzi, sorry.

OK. Be comfortable. You do not sound comfortable. All that fear that someone might take your technology away.

The fact that you would not even doa Google search of who the Hadzi are expresses that you would like to remain ignorant about things. That is one way to comfort yourelf. All this technology and yet people are still ignornat of their own biases.

I have come to the conclusion that there are at least 2 categories of trolls: those who do it deliberately because they get great pleasure in screwing with people and roiling up forums into flame wars, and then there are those who just have such an obsessively egocentric and myopic perspective that they just cannot see any world view but their own as having value, and are compelled to challenge any and every statement that does not agree with their opinions.

Both sets of trolls share a tendency to misinterpret others' statements, and attribute words and ideas that were not stated to those they disagree with.

No matter which variety of troll it is, remember: DON'T FEED THE TROLL!

Well put Paul! I wouldn't want to go back to the "good Old days" Technology has permeated every aspect of our everyday lives. Even if someone wanted to go where you didn't have the convinces that we enjoy, you'd still be relying on things you have leaned (through daily living) to help you get by in the wilderness. Things like how to make food grow better to keep you alive, ways to build a shelter to keep you dry, and knowing that untreated water can and will kill you. It is all technology. You can't go back... the Genni has been out of the bottle too long.

Of course I googled Hadzi; all I get is someone's name.
If you're going to keep using the word "ignornat" then you should at least spell it correctly!

You're right Carol. I'm done with this troll. The amusement wears off.
