"Use permit"

Do they make electric go-carts? Might solve the noise issue...

First as to the noise, This is a 6 acre property that backs up to a 200 acre property and is the last lot on the road. The plans call for digging the "path" down to a depth of 3 feet below grade and i plan on planting heavy vegetation around the track to buffer the noise. The noise level would be quieter than a lawn mower and I'm sure even a "lawn mower" sound signature would be minimal at a distance of over 1000'. I really don't want to piss off my neighbors but I really would enjoy this project. Electric carts? yes they do make electric carts but "racers" are normally gas 2 or 4 stroke engines

I can really hear dirt bikes and quads that are close to a mile away when they go screaming up and down Maku'u, especially at night. Two stroke engines tend to be really loud, as anyone who has ever been awakened by a blower, mower or chainsaw can attest. Our last next door neighbors' kids had a quad they would scream around the backyard on all weekend and it was beyond annoying, plus it set off every dog in the neighborhood.

Sounds like a fun idea, if I were 14 years old.

Some folks don't understand just how far sound can drone, and the cyclic circling
would become infuriating. Boom-boxes thumping are another annoyance that ruin the peace,
which I believe is their main objective (the equivalent of tribal war drums).

If I had to listen to that, I'd monkey-wrench it with extreme prejudice.

Just curious, but what does a "12 foot wide meandering paved cart path" over 6 acres cost??? Makes me think I'm over spending my 10ft drive I can" afford to finish.

Neighbors on the adjacent 5 acres (20-somethings going on 12) got a couple of dirt bikes a few years ago and spent hours a day for several days screaming around in circles over every lump and bump on their property."Beyond annoying" was an understatement. Finally the message got through from many people; they quit and haven't heard the bikes since. If asked about a use permit for anything remotely similar, I would say "monkey-wrench with extreme prejudice" sounds about right.

Noise from motors needs mass to block it. Landscape would not do that, but rock or dirt would.

Sounds like fun - if you make your carts with electric motors, your neighbors won't hate you for it.

Sure, electric carts would cost 5x as much as 2 stroke engines, but compared to the cost of the paved path you're proposing... the carts are nothing.
