This has been a tough year for us on many levels, car and trucks among them. Last year the transmission on my 4x4 Toyota truck went out. I had Nicks replace it. Had to order it from the mainland, took weeks and ended up costing (with some colateral repairs) abut $7000.00
Five weeks ago, when the transmission started slipping and then slammed I called them and they had me bring it in right away.
With displeasure, after two days, Chester called me and said "The manufacturer of the transmission is not standing behind the warranty." I understand the issue to be the time... right up to the one year warrantee. The difference between yes and no was the shipping time to get it here.
He asked me to give him a couple days to see what he could do.
When I heard back, the question was "if we could have this shipped on the barge it will save about $800.00. The bad news is that it could take four weeks that way." I told them I had another car to drive and it was no problem; let's do whatever is economical.
I started driving my jeep.
They called me yesterday to say that the Toyota truck was ready to pick up. I waited with baited breath for bad news. There wasn't any. I told them I would come down Tuesday morning.
When I arrived this morning, one of the mechanics had my keys in his hand, smiled and said "Here you go."
I responded "No paperwork or anything?" alluding to what part they would be charging me. He said, "Nothing. Thanks for being so patient. Have a nice day."
So, even thought the part manufacturer did not stand behind his product, Nick's Garage stood behind it 100%. It cost me absolutely nothing for them to make it right.
As I have said before, an honest mechanic... what a refreshing concept. I love these guys!

I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet
hit the floor each morning, the devil says
"Oh Crap, She's up!"
