"And plenty of cashiers....no waiting"

This alone is enough to get me in there instead of Safeway!

Well I've found a new source for my cats food. I just bought a bunch of "target brand" cat food at .48 cents a can. They love it! It's like the target brand spinoff of Fancy Feast with lots of variety and the best price in Hilo! And it's not a sale price...but an everyday price

Also excellent prices on bread, butter, bacon, produce, ice cream, chips, eggs and milk.

I went last night around 6pm. The parking lot was full but there were spots. I thought it would be a zoo, but it was actually....really pleasant. No more busy than an average day in Walmart. There were clerks everywhere..no lines. The prices were excellent. Organic milk in the half gallon 3.79. They had lots of "new store" sales. A nice sporting good selection, sorely lacking at Walmart in my opinion. I feel no need to visit Walmart anymore and all the groceries and beer/wine makes it a plus.

Target had the digital kitchen timer we have been looking for since we got here in April. And I saw tons of stuff I will be able to afford later! I like it.

Is the parking better than WallyWorld?

So far it looks like they have enough parking... I did notice that Safeway this week matched or beat many of Targets food prices. But Targets prices are everyday prices so after 7 days...Safeway's matched prices will ultimately go back up. And then again...maybe not!

I love competition!!!

Macuu - you can find Friskies cat food at Safeway for .47 cents a can (with Safeway card).

A trip to Target is always part of my adventure when I go to the mainland. I track a couple of items to see if they have them in the Hawaii stores. For instance, on the mainland they offer hot cocoa mix in many flavors: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, mint, orange, hazelnut, amaretto, and raspberry. The Kona and Hilo stores only have milk chocolate, dark chocolate and mint flavor.

That said, I'm very pleased with the store.

One thing I was bummed about the Kona Target was that they didn't have the dollar section like the mainland - just tourist stuff in front. Am very happy to see the dollar bins @ Hilo store.

Score of the day: they had a 3 pak of women's Quatro razors on sale for $7.29. If you bought 2 you got a $5 gift card. I had a buy one get one free coupon. So I got both 3-paks for $7.29 - $5 g.c. = $2.29. Score!
