Kauai Vacation Rental?
#1
My cousin is actually going to be occupying his condo on Kauai instead of renting it out as usual during the Christmas-New Years holidays this year. Bear and I want to pop over and visit for about three days around Dec. 27-30 and need some place to stay. Anybody have any recommendations for a vacation rental or hotel for just two? Hawaiian Airlines is offering some attractive air/hotel/car packages, but I value Punawebber's input on such matters. Thanks in advance.

Vacation Rentals By Owner is always a great place to start.

Maybe his condo has other rentals?

Good idea, David, but the available rentals in his complex are either way overpriced or have a minimum stay of a week. VRBO has some good possibilities, but we were hoping some Punawebber out there would know of a special place with low prices.

Good luck finding cheap rentals on Kauai, we went there a year ago and we were shocked how much more everything cost there than on the Big Island. We ended up taking a special from Aston, but it wasn't cheap. Also, you might want to check where your friends are staying, otherwise you might end up with a 60 minutes drive each way to see them.

We stayed at a great B&B on Kauai very close to the beach. Here's the url:

It costs $100/day but they have Kama'aina rates.
