I thought I had seen a post for someone who had sprouted rainbow eucalyptus to come dig up. I searched but found only a reference to the nursery which has them for $4, but minimum purchase is $25, and right now I am looking for cheap. I would like 2 to put on my lot. Anyone got babies of these? I have asked vendors at Maku'u, but always the same response, either I didn't bring it or I sold the only one I brought. Peggy
P.S. Evening Rain Farm sounds like a place to visit when I have more cash.

Peg,
those trees are beautiful, but very dangerous! They grow hugely fast, are brittle, and invasive as they drop so many seeds. We put two of them in our gardens, and now rue that decision! In just 2 years (from gallon pots), they've gotten to about 20' tall. If you absolutely must have one, be very careful of your choice of where to plant it!

Thanks Jane. I have lived so many places were you can't grow stuff that is really beautiful, because of the cold, that my weaselly little heart is set on some pretty useless plants. I have howled about blue ginger for two years, and I finally realized, once it bloomed, hey, I already enough to pot up and sell. Ha Ha. Princess Glory Bush and Rainbow eucalyptus, and I promise to be sensible. And try to contain the keike. Peggy

Peg,
If you want beautiful plants, just think about our Vireya Rhododendrons! I get up every morning and have 40-50 in bloom at any time. Our nursery and gardens are open by appointment, but we're here 99% of the time! Come check 'em out, or look at our website:

We're having a huge sale on the 10th, along with a demo of transplanting, pruning and pinching.

DLNR Tree Nursery in Hilo should have them (and other trees too) - in dibble tubes or bare root. Stop in at their Kilauea St. office a few blocks Puna-side of Hilo Shopping Center. You will recognize the complex by all the blooming native white Hibiscus. They have a list of all the trees available - very minimal cost.
