Start by contacting Paul's repair service to see who they use for towing. If stuck in Pahoa w/ car repair needs or lower Puna that's the best place:

Paul is well known and reliable and can direct you to who would be best to have on your call list for emergencies down there.
Be aware if you get stuck in some places there is zero cell phone coverage.

If you are a GEICO customer, most of their comprehensive/collision policies include a roadside assistance component that's good anywhere and includes towing if necessary. The ignition module on Bear's pickup went out a couple of years ago at the Kea'au transfer station, and they had Ken's Towing there in under 30 minutes. No charge and no premium increase. That is a pretty accessible location, but the driver told us that they "go all kine places" on the island for GEICO customers.
