This happen on Nov. 25. Police are looking for any information, that will lead to their arrest.
The Puna patrol officers responded to a reported burglary on 26th Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision. They determined that between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., a 72-year-old woman was confronted by five men while outside her house.
After asking for something to drink, three of the suspects allegedly entered the house uninvited. One prevented the woman from using her phone when she attempted to call a relative for assistance.

I think, it's time to get a "Fog Horn"..alert neighbors, that if they hear it, to call for help. Keep one inside and outside the house. These people are getting ruthless. Anytime of the day and night now!

That might qualify as a home invasion robbery.

Wow! That's another HPP home invasion on the same Thanksgiving day. Why are we only hearing about all this now?
Sometimes I think the police intentionally try to hush these things up so they don't look so ineffective. The crime stats they put out seems under-reported too.

This is despicable! [:0] Bless her heart - I'm so glad she was not harmed physically. I'll bet she has a hard time feeling safe after being overpowered like that.
WHY is right?! Why are we just now hearing of this? How can people protect themselves if they don't even realize there are predators lurking around?![

There are plenty of elderly people that have live alone. If you know some...check in on them every now and again...say "hi" and see how they are doing.
As for a report that is over one month old...well what can we say?
Mahalo for reading.

The "Kuleana Hotline" was launched Friday as a new tool the community can use to report to police "something that may not be criminal yet, but has the potential to turn disastrous if not prevented," according to the Hawaii Police Department. The line, which is not manned around-the-clock, can be reached by calling 961-2219. A voicemail system exists for the public to leave information when a member of the department is not available.
Talk with my neighbor this morning on 8th. We had someone stalking our home last night, her husband heard the dogs and went to check it out, they drove off, but didn't get license plate number, they drove on. I heard the car but, they didn't have the lights on. I guess, we should set up a section for robberies/burglaries reports, to help keep each other informed!

Since everybody seems to have a camera on their phone wouldn't snapping pictures of suspected vehicles be better use than funtime at Christmas? What the the police going do when confronted with this evidence? Since i don't have these gadgets i could whip out my $5 disposable camrea from when Woolworths closed out.

What is so upsetting is that this is in the middle of the daytime.
If a 72 year old woman can't be out in her yard or hanging out on her lanai in the middle of the daytime without being accosted it is a dangerous place indeed. I really feel for her and bet she is now scared to be there alone in the day, let alone the night. These type of events impact older people a lot. Really sad to happen here in HPP.

The Neighborhood Watch group for Hawaiian Paradise Park meets at 9:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month at the HPP Activity Center library. That would be this coming Saturday. I hope to see my HPP neighbors there.
I got chills just reading about it, thinking about how awful it would be for her in such a helpless situation. This thug type behavior is stuff I might expect in the bad part of town on the mainland -- not here.
Go Neighborhood Watch!
