The Bull in my yard
#31
You can often keep cattle out of areas with fairly minimal fencing that wouldn't work to keep them in. Even string strung with flashy reflective stuff like aluminum pie pans, old CDs and mylar streamers will keep them out of an area, unless the area has something they really want or need, like a cow in heat, good food, or water. My neighbors growing up used to use this method to keep their cattle temporarily out of a small part of a pasture they wanted to recover from overgrazing. It works better during the day, or moonlit or windy nights. The stuff flapping and twirling around spooks the livestock and they go elsewhere. I know that isn't a long term solution, but it might work until this guy is caught.

Obie, you made me laugh out loud! Ha ha!! There is nothing at all about gardening in this thread! Just a bull and his meandering his neck-o-the-woods! [Big Grin][Big Grin]

I love the entertainment aspects of this story. I can imagine it made into a film. Poor wandering bull, sad property owners with broken stuff, and now...we need a happy ending.

Life goes on, with you or without you.

someone loves this bull enough to buy a very large leather collar for him. he looks lovely in the collar.
the good news is he is not starving and seems to be surviving ok.
hopefully he doesn't get hit walking on the road.

Glad to see you guys having fun. That was the whole point of posting about it, something kind of whimsical ...

Carol, I do thank you for the idea (I thank everyone for ideas), it just wouldn't work here but you would have to see the lay of the land to understand. Anyway, what is needed is a solution for a bunch of properties. Mr. Bull needs to go back to a secure location.

Yes, Carrie, he has on a blue collar that you can see in at least one of the photos.

The owner is in jail, but has lots of family locally.

My neighbor suggests we each make a police report and ask them to contact the owner and get his wishes as to what is best done with his bull. That would make at least three police complaints that I know of, and might motivate the police to do something, as my neighbor heard the police don't particularly want to act on my other neighbor's complaint. The HS has told us it is the police's area because it's a large animal, and the HS doesn't have equipment to transport it.

It is someone's animal, jail or no jail, and no one here wants to do anything other than get it back to where it belongs. If it were a wild animal, like the pigs, then that would be different. Not to mention the owner is pretty much the baddest bad guy in the neighborhood, and no one wants him mad.

Funny, the animal has a much nicer disposition than the owner. [Wink]

OH MY GOSH...he is so cute! Yes...I didn't look at the other photos before. Thanks for reassuring me that I still have eyeballs. LOL!!!

I just hope someone doesn't want a T-Bone bad enough to hurt him. He's cute.[Big Grin]

In most places an animal at large is considered abandoned if the owner makes no effort to claim it in 24 hours (jail or no jail). In other words, when the bull is in your yard you're free to do whatever you would like to. I would suggest selling it.

Nah..It needs to be free.

Two options :
a)- free "to a good home";
b)free with a purchase of.... (contact local merchants or realtors).

Cash & Carry?
"Free bull with a purchase of a locally made "Bull's eye" 12-pack.
No BS. We cash you carry".

Anyone in marketing?
