Hilo restaurants
#1
Are there any dinner restaurants in Hilo that cater specifically to the tourist crowd? Something with a Hawaiian flair like the dinner and Hula show that Uncle Billy's use to have? And has anyone opened a new restaurant at Uncle Billy's since the closure of the old one?

Not exactly a show for tourists, and not in Hilo, but Kaleos in Pahoa regularly has one or both of the women waiting tables dance when Robt. Tripp jr. is playing. I haven't seen what they do but uncle Robert's at Kalapana has some kind of a show for the tourists.

The old Uncle Billys Restaurant is now Plantation Kitchen, Have been by, but not in, since they opened....but do not think that it is a Hawaiian themed locale now...

There is an ad in the paper that they are planning a Valentines Day special with musician Penny Madamba

There's a Hula show every Wed at the Palace, maybe after lunch?

The Hawaiiana show is every Wed. 11:00 -11:45...it includes a talk, short film & Hula, so might be better to make it before lunch...or after brunch...

Also the Aloha Ladies perform at the Hilo Bandstand whenever there is a ship in town (every Tues. &...) and usually there is Hula at the East Hawaii 3rd Sat in Kalakua Park, and always Hula Kahiko on Saturday a month (2/18 & 3/10 are the next 2) at the Hula Platform in near the Volcano Art Center Gallery in VNP, and Aloha Fridays, every Friday, at the gallery has Hula lessons & crafts

Maybe check with Queen's Court at Hilo Hawaiian. Weekend buffet offers Hawaiian foods. Lounge has live Hawaiian contemp music weekends.

Uncle Billy's was pretty awful, although my experience there was 7 years ago.

Thank you everyone. The Hilo Hawaiian I completely forgot about. They have Hawaiian night every Saturday. I remember Uncle Billy's about 20 years ago when the dinner and Hula show was always sold out on weekends. Being new to Hawaii back then..my wife and I both loved going there and enjoying a great evening.
