Aloha im Ike Payne and im running for County Council District 4..
im originally from Pearl City, o'ahu. and have been apart of the community in Puna since i was 8 yrs old as a keiki spending time each summer with my aunties and uncles.
in Hawaiian Beaches and Pahoa.
THE THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO ME ARE AS FOLLOWED BUT NOT LIMITED TOO.
I beleive Puna to be a special place that is uniquely blended with all the element that make a place a wonderful place to live work and grow up..im not a politician, im a child of the island who cant take anymore of what i see to not be realistic or helpful in exibiting the grass rooted style and feel of Puna.
i beleive Puna to be a self sustaining environment that can help guide the rest of our sister islands and the world on how to work together as one ohana, with ( teach-ins) where people with knowlege come together and help all people learn the values and foreth right beleif of working together to have community gardens thru out every subdivison and our districts that are maintained by people in those subdivision, and our district knowledge is power and we all have some wonderful quality that can be shared between us all ,
i beleive there should be more farmers markets within sundivisonand the community at large ,and begin the understanding that anyone can plant something,but it take folow thru and drive to mantain thru things that are grown to help sustain our islands and communities. we need to call on all the farmers, rancher, gardener, cooks ,bakery, craftsmen and women,local shop owners ,aunties uncles, youth, young adults and those whom are ready to stand up and take your communities back for the future is in the hands of workers of Big Island sustainability and self sustainability with in our communities.
we need more buses and more bus stops along our routes that have covers and that are secure,that have accurate bus schedules printed on ever stop we need buses to be on time and for them to be accountable.
I would like to see the hele-on phone number at every stop and trackers checking to insure that buses are stopping for the people. i want it to be safe for people to walk around free from the possibility of getting hit from cars flying down the roads in subdivions along with more indepth comunity watch where there is the number of the police posted also by every bus stop so people would have not reason to not start watching out for there communities.
i also beleive in more parks with BBQ pits and playing areas for families or anyone who wants to enjoy them, we need lots and lots of edible parks where you can eat if your hungry and beable to spend time with friends and such, there should be recycling cans also put out at all public areas, and then the money made can be used for more community projects .
We also need community tutoring for the individuals who needs help with there school work on all levels.. with in the subdivision and the district. by voluteering.we need to take our education back from the government and bring it back to where it belongs the community ,to the families(and over all the ohana which is all of us.) . there are so many ways to help and until we can learn to ask for help ,how can we expect any one to help us, or be able to help one another
please understand that i do not think or assume that i think im more or less better or worse than any of the other candidates or the man in office now .all i know is that its time to change for too many things in our community are falling thru the cracks and veiw where we live as the special place it is and appreciate and lift up in kind.
