I am having the hardest time finding new women's sleeveless aloha shirts. Actually even non-aloha, as long as they button in front, have collars and are made of cotton. I can find a few rayon ones, but I get hot in those and for some reason they like to come unbuttoned on me right when I'm in the checkout at Safeway. These shirts used to be everywhere -- even Hilo Hattie's doesn't have them anymore unless you're size 3x. Ross used to have them but don't seem to have aloha wear anymore unless it's a dress. Ditto with Wal-Mart. Weird, eh? Any suggestions where I can shop? Even went to Sig Zane, but they've changed their cut so there's like an inch between neck and "sleeve" -- weird looking. Help!!

w.james, alas, I did try Sears. I totally thought I was going to find what I wanted there, but no go. Royall, thanks for the alohaoutlet site -- I saw that one, also one called shakatime that looks good --
http://www.shakatime.com/hawaiian_shirt_...eless.html. Both have cotton shirts made in Hawaii, and free shipping. There's also a few more sites online ... I'll give Macy's and some small shops in Hilo a go before I order though. Mo betta to try on.

I recently saw some in a couple of the small stores on the bayfront, I can't remember which ones though because I was shopping for something else.

Thanks, Carol. I'll take a walk downtown and see what i can find.
I was thinking about aloha wear the other day while shopping and watching people shopping in Hilo. Almost no one was wearing aloha wear other than tourists.
From a manufacturing perspective (I used to be in garment design and manufacture), a sleeveless top out of woven fabric requires an armhole facing, a knit top does not-- so it costs less to make a knit top, and using buttons cost more too. Collars even more labor I find a cotton knit sleeveless as comfortable as it comes.
I do think you might have more luck west side than over here.

DTisme, thanks for asking this question. I also have been trying to find the same item. Glad for all this info from our Punaweb folk.
