Not that we're in the habit of it but...
Is it illegal to talk on cell phones while driving in Hawaii? I've seen a few people on the side of the road talking on the cell phone so I'm curious.

yes, I think it is a $92 fine and if you cause an accident while talking and driving you could get up to a $500 fine

Hands free is OK, just no holding the cell phone....but of course many still do...

i think they have as a distracted driving. i think it's $97 if you have a dog in your lap.

yes and if your dog is not restrained in a car you get a fine also ($54?)

The cell phone used to go under distracted driving, but a couple years ago it became law no hands on cell phone. Not necessary to drive weird which would show distraction.
I read at the time that if you pull over, your engine must be off.
In Hawaii if your engine is on, you are driving, and you have to fasten your seat belt first as well. There was a topic awhile back about that.
As for the dog, they can talk on the phone no problem.
