Black hole observation from Keck - Live
#1
Keck is having a live stream tonight of an observation of the black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy (the galaxy in which we live has been called milky by multiple cultures in multiple countries over the ages). Not sure if this live stream showing astronomers at work might not be a snooze fest. Very cool idea though.

Sorry, no such thing as a Black Hole at the center of the Milky Way, pahoated. Only caramel and I think nougat, which is the real mystery.

Keck has found world wide web live streaming. They are showing a computer simulation with data going back into the 1800's, showing the stars towards the center of the galaxy in orbit around the center which is a black hole. Now, animation of G2 with data from 1997 to present, gas cloud falling into black hole. Kind of strange that the astronomers are observing to find out if G2 is ripped apart by the black hole, which we won't see happening until 2015. In reality, whatever happened, happened 50,000 years ago. Whatever is going on now, we won't see for another 50,000 years. Interesting Keck Center is in Waimea, not Hilo.
