They'rrrrrre back!

Those are federal dollars they can either use of lose, and they're counting on you not to complain. It's a manufactured problem. If they actually wanted to help society, they'd be funding efforts to get kids off crack, but apparently there's not enough money in it.

Remember, it's all about money. Follow the money.

How often do you have helicopters hovering low over your property? How many minutes a month?

Is what they're doing with those helicopters against the law?

People have every right to complain. I don't mind the noise, I want drugs out of the neighborhood.

2 days straight, all day, every other month for a War on Drugs that is a failure and an invasion of privacy. If they want to search my property get a warrant

Tourists planes? Minor issue as they are higher, and don't hover.

One thing is for sure. This website is great for the growers. They get an early warning when the helos are flying.

The person who suggested the choppers might make the growers leave is naive. They've been doing this for decades and it was much worse before. They used to fly at rooftop level with a man dangling beneath on a cable. They stopped doing this because all you new comers complained.

i live in an area in mtn view with no power or telephone poles, just forest. the helicopters that i see are mainly tour helicopters, and if i had my druthers, they would not be flying overhead. it is a distraction.

Helicopters are a wonderful piece of machinery. I personally like the sound they make. But I can sympathize with those who don't. To each his own.

There has been one hovering over Nanawale this afternoon. It's red I think. It is getting annoying. Hopefully it doesn't last too long.

Paul - good questions but a bit of perspective is needed. Anyway, as for (1), it's not often but always seems to be when I'm working nights and want to sleep during the day. Other times I'm on the day shift and not at home so don't know if they're low over my property, so can't give you an accurate answer. But I'm sure you wouldn't be happy with low flying helicopters over your house for hours when you want to get to sleep. We're not talking about a couple of minutes of noise (e.g., a police car on the road outside respodning to an emergency), it's hours.

(2) I don't know, but they do tend to hover at very low altitudes over private properties. I'm under the impression that isn't legal but maybe it is for the feds.

(3) I couldn't agree more with that, but my enjoyment of my property is ruined more by the feds than by pot growers. And I've yet to see a pot grower send someone to take a good close look at my yard and disrupt my whole day while doing so.

You have helicopters flying for hours over your property? That is excessive. I didn't even know they could stay up for that long.

I can't say anything like that has ever happened to me, yet we live fairly close together. But then I'm often not home.

I sympathize with the night shift problem, the 24-hour society doesn't have 24-hour noise restrictions.

If anything has ever been stolen from you or yours, then I would guess the drug industry has had an impact on your life.

They run multiple helicopters in shifts. They're close enough to the ground that it sets off the birds that the property owner here keeps (peacocks / macaws) to such a degree that I can't hold phone meetings (I work from home so this is an issue). In my case it's more of an annoyance but one that has no upside (at least the tour lines bring in revenue for the community)

The War on Drugs has not limited the crime rate or done anything to lower the amounts of pot in the area (much like prohibition in the early 20th century). But as long as it's for "safety", "the children" or "hard on crime" (or the russians used to like "for a better future") then let our nanny state do whatever it feels like regardless of the price or efficiency?
