Helicopters From Hell...
#11
A couple days ago when the OP first posted, the helicopters seemed to be going non-stop over lower HPP. I swear at one point in the day, there was one flying overhead average every five minutes. I didn't think there were that many helicopters on the island! Today there's hardly any. I wonder why some days there's so much traffic using a particular flight path. I know some people here seem to like them but they should disperse the flights so those that don't can have some peace and quiet.

The novelty is starting to wear off. Many helicopters daily and they are getting annoying, although still not as annoying as the jackhammer being used to dig out my neighbor's pool. Oh, for those fond days of dynamite blasts where it was all over in an instant.

Saw one of the largest planes I have ever seen doing a wide bank off the coast today.

It was probably a C-5 out of Bradshaw. The navy had their new EIS for comment last week, and it basically turned the whole Hawaiian island range plus the length of the Midway islands into a test and training range. Guess nobody was interested. Most of the test and training had been Oahu and west since WW2, so this is a huge expansion. There is no reason this air traffic is being done the way it is where it is. The bombers and cargo could be routed out north, then operate at least 20 miles off the coast, instead of buzzing the southeast coastline at 2000 ft. The helicopters are probably out of Pohakuloa and they are just going to be all over the place at different times.

Although the aircraft are a little noisy and the helicopters DO look right into my backyard, I am trying to look at this as if it is December 6, 1941, I live on Oahu and I know or suspect what the future holds. I do not know what the future holds, but I do think we should all fasten our seatbelts, as it could be a bumpy century, if the the last couple centuries are prologue to the present. Hooray for really big airplanes. The helicopters are beginning to wear out their welcome.

My curiosity came from them flying over and around Hawaiian Shores near the top of the subdivision...no shoreline here...no volcano...no touristy kine stuff. Just noise...much noise. (Carrie grumbles.)

The tribune had this yesterday:

http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/sect...r-pta.html
Increased aircraft noise expected over PTA

They are indicating more noise over PTA but if it was a C-5 and it dropped off several H-1 and Bells, then those are spec ops and they aren't just going to stay over the airfield.

Yes, but we are nowhere near them or anywhere near the airport...just seems strange to hear so much activity over Pahoa...

This caught my attention on Facebook.

A little off topic, but interesting to see, none the less.

Look at all the varied jobs the dispensaries open up for communities. Pretty impressive.

On the other hand, the people in power could use the public's money to pay for guys with guns, riding around in helicopters, looking for plots of plants to destroy.

The comparison kind of speaks volumes, doesn't it?

This is an example of why I sometimes tell people that we are led by beasts.

Still, if things can change for the better on the mainland, (although not often enough), then perhaps they can here, more often.
