roadside waving
#31
quote:
Monday, Wendell Ka'ehu'ae'a 's people were waving at the end of the bottleneck, along with a couple of Tulsi Gabbard's people. That's the worst spot, as that's where drivers need to be watching the road, and that is where traffic should start speeding up, not slowing down. Greggor Ilagan was waving at KHS. Better spot, still not great. The bottleneck was much worse than usual that day when I went through at 6:00 PM.
The bottleneck was terrible this evening, almost the worst I've known, comparable to just one or two instances I can recall during the winter seasons and heavy rain. A plethora of sign wavers were there to greet everyone when they finally got to the bottleneck - mostly Yagong's group this time but might be misremembering - I try not to make eye contact with the wavers because I'm too busy watching out for what other drivers are doing.

I saw Ilagan's people there tonight, a huge throng. I was going the other way, but saw it was really bad.

It was abut half Ilagan fans and half Yagong, I tried to get out of work in time to miss the bottle neck, I went in at 6:00 AM so I could leave early, but today I had to drop off my ballot (irony of ironies) and replace my watch battery so I hit it in prime time. 25 minutes to get from the edge of the HS property to the Eagles turn off, what more can I say.

Pahoated - there is a way from Volcano to Pahoa that'll avoid the bottleneck but won't post it here. I've done it a couple of times in the past but it wasn't worth it. If you you have a 4WD vehicle it just might be worth the journey but definitely not in a little ford focus. I had to check if my exhaust was still there and also if I had four wheels left...

There is paved access all the way to Pahoa through Hawaiian Acres on 8 road, it takes a jog on F road down to 9 road, then connects to Ainaloa Blvd. which you can take all the way to 130. That stretch is where the cops have been handing out speeding tickets on and off ever since it got paved.
