Has there actually been direct communication from the County to HPP on this issue, with demands, or is this all speculation or conversation. Links to said items requested.

My understanding is that it is the state health department that is making the threats, the HPPOA would have the letters from them, but probably not anyone else, certainly not any punawebbers unless they are hiding their identity as an HPPOA board member.

There was a " Executive Session " of the board on the 16th about the dust issue. but none of us will know what happened till they want money.

quote: it basically means it doesn't matter what we think, unless we live in HPP. those folks need to come up with a solution, and allow each lot to vote on it. if it's a crappy idea, then it won't pass, and the democratic process will oust the incompetent board and get some folks in there to try again. repeat as necessary. the clock is ticking. i personally think that the cinder roads are fine. another alternative is to allow streets to sign up for paving, first come, first serve. people on a street can garner interest among their neighbors. the board can help facilitate the paving. put a county hefty fine directly on the lot owners, and see how quickly it gets accomplished.

I don't understand how the complainant can go to the health dept. and claim dust issues. HPP is categorized agriculture lots. It seems that if they had a problem it should be a disclosure issue with the person they bought the property from not the county.

At the meeting I thought I got a little info on the fact that it was the CHANGE in material they used
that caused the issue. When they tried to put that gray stuff on our road the neighbors organized and asked them to stop. Several of them noticed that it was much more dust causing than the old red...Also they said it actually caused more pot holes in the long run. I'm not sure if I got that correct at the meeting but just wanted to share that. Also at the meeting a fellow said, he would like speed bumps on all the trunk roads. SO let's punish all of us for the few who speed. The speeders will speed between the humps and slam on their breaks at the humps....You know you just can't control STUPID or fence in the ocean. Having police used radar would be punish the offenders and not the rest of us.

I would take opinions expressed at the meeting about the materials used on the roads as just that "opinion," which is not always the same thing as fact. Lots of people like to armchair quarterback the work done by our roads manager and his crew, but that doesn't mean they actually know what they are talking about.
The red cinders put up plenty of dust, and it was much harder to clean up than the dust from new stuff is. We have far smaller and fewer potholes on our street now, although I do think that the better maintained roads now get more fast drivers since there are fewer potholes to slow them down. Carol
