Low flying jet
#1
Anyone know what is up? A jet just flew over our house in HPP.

I'd rather be a wise ass than a dumb ass!!!

My daughter and I heard them LOW. Sounded like maybe three or four heading to Hilo. Thought maybe an airshow I didn't know about, but there is none listed. They are forbidden to fly over populated areas on the BI, if I'm not mistaken..... Could be wrong, but that was a first for us! I don't want to hear that again in this area.

Didn't pay much attention to the news from Honolulu but I seem to remember someone talking about a military airshow so maybe there is one on Oahu this weekend?? We're aren't that far away from them from a military jet's point of view.

It may have been fun for the pilots, but I had two normally placid dogs turn into whining, moaning puddles for quite a while afterward. They were both rubbing their ears, it was loud to my relatively insensitive human ears, but must have been deafening to them! I can't imagine how more high strung livestock like horses must have responded.

What went over HPP was no small plane, nothing in the civilian plane category that flies into Hawaii could generate that much noise, my husband got a good look and said they looked military because of the formation they were flying in. The only thing I ever experienced that was close to this was a Blue Angels exhibition.

I did not see them, but I have heard that sound before -- just prior to a series of explosions from the ordnance hitting its target (or not). Forty years ago. As those went over this afternoon, I was writing and found myself tensed and waiting for the explosions ...

3 F-16's Between Hwy and 20th st or so in HPP. Headed towards Hilo and banking to the right. Out in my back yard and didn't even hear the first one until it was almost over head then it got real loud. Now I know what the element of surprise really is. Sorry for the animals it scared but cool to see. I used to watch them do touch and goes from my classroom in Keaukaha when I was younger. Teacher would have to stop and wait for them to take off and get a ways away.

The flew right over the summit of Kilauea this afternoon. Loudest thing i've heard up there for years. I'm glad that didn't wake Pele, cause she's got more fire power than they do Smile
