I thought there were only 4 people fired.

I am confused by your statement above, are there 4 total and 3 were reinstated, 1 died before reinstatement, and one of the 3 reinstated moved off island? or are there six total?

No - I admit poorly written. There are only four workers. Three have been reinstated and one died.

At 10:23am today, (police radio on) police called to County Clerk's office for theft report. They are meeting with Jamae Kawauchi, who called in the complaint.

Find this interesting, and didn't know where to post, but this thread seems to be the most appropriate given the whole hot mess.

FYI: Read about the Ethics Commission Meeting going on today:

http://www.bigislandchronicle.com/2012/0...pace-vote/

OMG. Unbelievable.

Combined with the main stream media reports re: newest police investigation, this whole thing has GOT to come to an end. Both Yagong and Kawauchi need to be removed. Period. jmo.

Here's a video of the confrontation between Yagong and the Chairman, (courtesy of Occupy Hilo group-Don't know why the County can't show these meetings live):

(*Note: Fast forward through the waiting for Executive Session to be over, unless you want to watch Jamae talking to someone)

This gets uglier by the day.

Got to give this loud mouth bellicose arrogant POS an A plus for being - well just that!

Using the argument basis of "I know I am, but so are you!" is very fitting for ole Lame Duck Dom, and shows his true intellect.

Good riddance to this POS and his grossly inept sidekick!

PS - Note front page of HTH - typcial of that rag!

So let me get this straight: A guy running for mayor oversees the person who runs the elections and, oh by the way, his daughter is running for Council and he has publicly stated he is going to work to get her elected. And he doesn't appreciate that there is even an appearance of a conflict of interest (or two...) here? Hello?

And then at his ethics hearing, his direct report employee (who hardly has a stellar reputation at the moment) steps up to defend her boss and accuse the ethics chairman of a conflict of interest, yet she sees no conflict in her participation??? Seriously???

KeaauRich: Boggles the mind doesn't it?

Anyone with an ounce of integrity would have removed themselves from this position a long damn time ago(the County Chair in this instance). The display at the Ethic Comm. meeting is just beyond belief. jmo.

Perhaps the two lawsuits now filed by the fired election staff, and the one that is probably waiting to be filed by the family of the deceased election office official is weighing heavily on both Yagong and Kawauchi. It darn well should be.

This whole Council should be ashamed of the non-action of the entire body. Good for Mr. Dill for writing to the State Elections office!

Disgusted. Again.

Yes, I think Dom very eloquently used the best tactic possible during yesterday’s proceedings. He more or less used the "are you still beating your wife?" version of guilt deflection by bringing up something obscure, years old, offers no proof and then gets his stooge Clerk to play the same tune!

Further, imagine ANYONE acting the way this buffoon acted yesterday in front of him as Council Chair. Just imagine what he would have done.

However, what amazes me the most with the rest of this Council is the lack of leadership as well as fear of not stepping in, voting him out as Chair, firing this Clerk and moving on.

Let’s face facts – ole bellicose Dom is done with Hawaii politics. As well as his stooge Clerk. What COULD be gained in public trust if the other 8 Council Members would act with a brain would be monumental. Instead, the lack of any competent action shows that quite frankly the remaining 8 are just as useless and arrogant as the Chairman.

That being said, about the only thing the public can do is to GUARANTEE the non-election of any current Council member. Especially Ford. Who I think should realize that if none of this had happened, she most likely would have been next year’s Chair. At this point, her reelection is more or less not going to happen.

I would say ole Dom is at about the same emotional and mental point Nixon was when he uttered his “I am not a crook” line.

Maybe she was too busy defending the Chairman on ethics charges?!?!? At any event, she just clearly is incapable of doing her job.

When will this garbage just go away??
