Yes, "ironic" is far too gentle a word. Perhaps "idiotic" is more accurate.

yes there is corruption in paradise! Plus there is way worse if you take the time to uncover all the crap. As for our judicial system locally. Okay, you're right our judges tend not to be perfect . But where are there state judges who rule perfectly?

You now live on an island. A mass of land surrounded by the pacific ocean. A lot of local criminal went to school with local cops, local attorneys, local judges too. Sometimes these criminal had family members go to school with a sitting judge. An they have been known in the past to ask for favors behind closed doors. When officials have balked...bad things have usually followed to them in the past. You know, unexplained beatings in hotel rooms in Las Vegas...stuff like that.
So when you ask out loud why a judge did a certain thing. Understand there is probably an under current to their decision as to why they did what they did.

Tend not to be perfect? It was zero surprise in reading the news story to see that Glenn Hara was the judge in the bail hearing. Whenever there is a genuinely gross decision like this he is almost inevitably behind it. Consider: the early reports said he was released on homicide because charges hadn't been filed yet, but was being held for probation violations. He was driving with a suspended license and had already been called back to court for violating probation a month ago, but skipped the court hearing. Either of those are immediate grounds for keeping him locked up. Judge Hara has contempt for his own court.
