What are you going to do, get an electric car? Nobody on the island will honor the warranty.

I would love an EV, but being off grid and not having enough solar capacity to recharge, not feasible as of yet. And I'm in with the boycott. While I push my truck past those fascist gas stations, I'll flip'm the ol' bird and yell,"TAKE THAT", you stink'n bastard. [:p]

My truck been in storage for 5 years. I hope it starts up before the ethanol burns a hole in my gas tank?[8]

That is a long time, you should have drained the tank if you knew it was going to be in storage that long. It isn't a problem with ethanol separating, it is the gas turning into varnish. That varnish will be coagulated all throughout the fuel system. Around here, I've had some bad gas, either too much ethanol or the ethanol separated.

I'm going try start it on Saturday. Might be too late but I'll pour in a bottle of gas stabilizer. Anybody have opinions of STP or Lucas? I guess I'll expect the worse how do you salvage??

You may want to pull a little sample of the fuel - after 5 years it may be "shellac" and will not "burn" right if at all.
Trying to start the truck may just pump all that old fuel into the works and fine mesh filters along the way. non injected a little more forgiving than injected in my experience. If you have water in the fuel - the injectors will not like it. If it a truck I'd have to work on - I'd start by changing out the fuel.... 5 years a long time in the tropics.

Check under the car, the gas tank might have a bolt..very easy to remove with a socket/rachet! Drain gas...refill with gas and stabilizer.

I would dump in a bottle of Sta-Bil and then fill the tank with fresh gas.
Even if you siphon out the gas,the varnish and crud will stay in the tank and fuel lines. It won't hurt to try because the main fuel will filter catch the crud. After you go through most of the tank of gas, change the fuel filter.

Thanks, also almost trapped myself trying to rent a car for Iron man weekend. So I did some creative searching the phone book. Cars R Us at 800-655-7989 looks as cheap as price line. For kamaaina rates Aiona Car Sales was very nice. See what happen next week.
