Ke'ei I'd guess
Ocean waterfall location?

Judging from the sky in the photo I would guess that it was taken at sunset, and the red on the rocks could just be reflection and not the actual rock color.
That said, if you walk along the coast from MacKenzie the waterfall will not get in the way because it is at the southern end of a cliff. However, I always have driven to the cattle grate, parked on the side of the road, and hiked down. Don't wait until the tide is already high, because you want to see it start. BTW - I always called it "the upside down waterfall". But it was so long ago that I don't remember if I made that up or if someone else told me that was the name... Even if it's not the one in the photo, it's a lovely spot.

My friends and I went to the location past McKenzie Park and couldn't find the "reverse waterfall" indicated in the photo. I looked closer at the photo-isn't Mauna Loa in the background?
The spot we went to was indeed beautiful. The exploring was not in vain![8D] But we still have unfinished business and want to find this beautiful spot.

i think it is Mauna Loa, but more specifically the fault scarp on the north side of Kealakekua Bay.

yes, its Mauna Loa, and the image looks to be looking north from the Ho'okena area

Pretty sure it's from Puuhonua bay, just south of the park. If it was Hookena bay the cliffs would be visible in the picture, and the small bay north isn't deep enough.

You might want to contact the Extreme Exposure web site & ASK where the picture was taken... I am fairly sure they would know, and would share it, unless there is some reason why they should not reveal the location....

Carey, I'm going to visit the gallery in Hilo and see if they will tell me the location of that picture. As wonderful as Punawebers are in trying to help, some of the suggestions don't make sense because of the long slope of Mauna Loa in the background. That tells me the location is southeast of the mountain!
If Tom or Bruce disclose the location, I'll let you all know.[]

Edge - just ask Tom yourself - he'll tell you. He and Bruce are super talented.
