Had to smile, I too noticed the crowds at the mall & thought there must be a REALLY good movie (was even gonna check the theater page when I got home, but without the "Harry Potter" draw, couldn't think of any movie that would draw that many)......then it hit me, 8pm, 2 stores open & the whole Walmart shopping center parking lot was full & the North & some of the south side of the mall parking...

My guess is that those 2 stores are (hopefully) having a black & not a grey Thursday by opening today!!

I guess the Walmart strike isn't having much effect here.

This irony rings true after reading the other thread about how thanksgiving isn't tainted by commercialism lol!

Cheers

If I were king - I'd make the retailers responsible removing all the packaging material back to the mainland.

When I think of all the tons of cardboard, packing plastics and foam - headed to the landfill - soon to be followed by the mostly useless stuff it once contained.. Does all that stuff leaving the shelves this week, really make our lives better?

Meanwhile - lets toss out a red herring and focus on grocery bags instead...... grin

People spending money they don't have on things that they don't need.

Unfortunately, too many of those that don't have, only have it to spend because of the programs that redistribute from tax payers, and you're right, they mostly don't need what they are buying. Yea, I know this comment will upset a few.

The department and big box stores were packed, but the shoe store was dead, and I got 2 pairs of shoes and 12 pairs of socks for $88.
