I happened to be in one of those small countries in europe that still has a queen. On her birthday they suspend sales taxes and party - folks can set up beer and food stands without permits as well - the whole country hits (far left and neocon ) the streets and canals to celebrate the day with goodwill

love that nod to personal freedom - and respect shown for the queen and each other...........

The Queens Bday should be a real day of goodwill for all - we may be able to learn something from them -

This is what was happening in Oahu. Beauty, grace, serenity, commitment, this is the true meaning of aloha, something that can get lost in these times. The kanaka maoli deserve admiration and praise for trying to preserve what they can of pre-contact Hawaii, with patience and devotion through it all.
