The Malama HELCO Bomb
#1
At least some of the protests of the Big Islanders are being heard by Malama Solomon as she proposes a partnership with customers, or perhaps a takeover of the grid as we proposed and passed at Hawaii County Democrats Convention last summer. The proposal was rejected by the state Democratic Party convention. Robbie Alm of Hawaiian Electric Industries does not agree.

So, as I understand the current system, HECO owns/operates the electric grid on all islands except Kauai. Whereas Kauai has an electrical coop, where renewable energy opportunities are taken advantage of and profits go back to it's community.

It's a awesome thing that Solomon and whalesong are in favor of adopting this system for the Big Island.

I don't know what fricken frakin has to do with it but:

There's a guy in a neighboring subdivision that mixes a load of mulch from the dump into a pile into which he adds his poop products. He runs a black water hose underneath the pile and uses it to bathe. Maybe the methane is seeping through the water hose? I wonder if he covered it with a tent if he could use it as a steam sauna. lol

The guy must have a big length of coiled hose to heat enough water in a reasonably fast amount
of time. But an interesting idea.
Just got to know enough what should not be in the pile.

Lingle's legacy is a Cheney-style "secret energy policy" that gives HECO special magical powers to screw the public. Grid takeover is a lovely romantic notion, but somewhat impractical; best option for "individual ratepayers" is to opt-out of the grid entirely.

"Fracking" is a proprietary process, all patents held by Halliburton, so the term really means both everything and nothing.

Exactly! You got it, kalakoa. It is interesting HELCO recinded the request for a rate hike, perhaps the Gov. threatened to do what some Senators are pushing for; change what Lingle did.

We can all go solar as individuals, however, what about the hospitals, etc., not to mention our mo'opuna and others who follow after us?
