Run off of diesel generators so no worries about an unusually large Helco bill. Must have made a hell of a racket though. Also, making a 40 x 80 x ~10 foot space underground in Fern Forest? Sounds too big to fit in a lava tube and that means digging through a lot of solid rock. That's a big effort right there.

500 plants for 2 people! this is why the police/feds harass us, greedy people like this try for make big $$ and ruin it for us who grow for personal use!
I hope they lose it all (possessions), and get probation... that would be very fair for greedy people like this

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

Bananahead,
Not everyone is able to grow their own quality medicine.
For whatever reason - there are plenty - lack of space, lack of private space, age/infirmity, simple lack of botanical knowledge, of course obvious legal issues, and many more I don't care to list.
This is why many other states offer the option of allowing a "caretaker" to grow your own medicine for you for a fee. I can't speak for these people in particular, but I know that many, many, many others view such an enterprise as a service to the community providing what others are not able to provide.
For all I know you may be right they may be greedy, but I don't think one mans greed should limit others compassion. For instance I lived in the Bay Area while going to school and a local co-op had an event they termed "charity" where they gave "compassion" to the more needy folk by providing medicine for free. This was of course limited and not always of the best quality, but it is what it is. I for one never accepted such charity but I did admire their willingness to help others.

For what its worth .... Hawaii faces a lot of resort competition. In Mexico they have loosened the rules so that Americans and other foreign tourists can buy and use recreational amounts of "soft drugs"
It changes the landscape in the competitive arena for tourist dollars. To attract visitors the mexican resorts know their clients and are pragmatically meeting a demand.
Gaming and soft drugs are competing with our beaches for tourist dollars every day ....we have choices to make in the near future to stay competitive.
I believe Hawaii and Utah are the only states left that outlaw all gaming (what is that place next to the day old - grin) 2 states seem to be on the legalization of soft drugs bandwagon here at home.....

Even if it is legalized or reclassified as a type 2 substance, it will still be illegal to distribute and there will be a cap on what is reasonable to have on hand. It could be they are a provider for several patients and doing the grow in-doors for quality and pest control. The diesel can't have been cheap. With that many kw lamps, it was probably 5 gal every 7 hours. But since they weren't registered with the Oahu ND, they were probably in it for the money, considering all the money that went into that grow operation.

I wonder what all the meth heads are thinking when they hear about stuff like this, if I was a meth head / meth "cooker" (?) I'd be rolling on the ground laughing that the cops spend their (our) time and money on something like this! 2 years! Lol.
Hate to derail, but it also irks me to see the cops standing around directing traffic / generally "watching" the construction/road workers do their job. What's up with that?
Jim,,
Beyond whats obvious to most as per why they are there. What DO YOU ! Think is "up with that" ???
