Does anyone use the HFN fuel card? Do you find it's worthwhile with gas now at $4.30 a gallon? I called HFN for an application, and they said that there is a $.15 a gallon discount if you apply through any local credit union. So that's question number two, any recommendations for a credit union?

We use the Aloha gas card. 5 cents off per gallon and an additional 3 cents per gallon if you pay your bill right away. I didn't have to go to a credit union- did it online. 15 cents per gallon is really good leaving me to wonder if it's a promotional rate.

Have used it when filling up UH vehicles & HELCO use the cards... for fleets it is well worth it (usually beating out even the Costco price...)

We have been happy using the HFN card. They even had an 800 number on the back I could call to find a Kona side station that took it. Great service on a Sunday!

I don't know about here but in California the rate varied a bit with the bigger customers getting the better rate. The primary customers are operating fleets and part of the service is to have some more data available on the bills.

We have had our HFN card thru Hawaii Community FCU for 5 years: it's wonderful: 12c discount on this side of the island, 20c on the Kona side. One bill, automatically deducted once a month. Well worth it!

So you gotta go find a gas station that accepts this card? What station is offering 12c? Might have to check into it myself. Even tho I hardly drive still at about 11 gallons of gas / that's 1.3X off every fill up would add up. 1.30 fill up twice a month...
1.30x24 = 31 bucks a year savings. That could really add up if one had a gas guzzler SUV... I could see people around here easily save 100 bucks a year.

HFN station at Leilani and Railroad, and any MinutStop accept the card, and as Carol pointed, the 800# will point you to a station if you don't know where one is.

I've had the HFN card for six or seven years. You pay for this month's gas next month, mine comes out of my bank account automatically on the 22nd of the month. Savings varies, minimum 11 cents per gallon. There are plenty stations available - Old Ginger Patch, Shipman, Orchidland, as well as Lelani and Railroad. I got my card through Big Island Federal Credit Union, and have been quite happy with them as well.
Today is the oldest you've ever been and the youngest you'll ever be, enjoy this day!
