Cassette tapes transfered to CD
#1
Does anyone have any idea who I can call to get cassette tapes transfered onto a CD? I can't seem to find anyplace, even online. Thank you for any suggestions.

You can buy a device that allows you to do it yourself. I did it with mine. I believe I purchased it on Amazon. Just look up tape to CD converter and see what comes up. It was very inexpensive.

You can feed the tape deck into your computer (there should be some kind of "line in" port) and record sound files, then burn those onto CDs. Audacity is a freeware program for recording, Goldwave is a good, relatively inexpensive shareware one with a lot of sound editing functions (good for tapes that need adjusting).

DAK.com

$69.90

They have been around for many years. Good company.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It looks like I need to hire someone to do it for me because I don't have a cassette player and my only computer is an old laptop. These cassette tapes are very special because they are of my parents telling some life stories and I need to have them cleaned and then handled with care. I wish there was someone in Hilo that could do it as I don't like the idea of having to mail them out but I'll check out the Dak.com. I always find help on this board - thanks so much.

I'm in HPP. If you could get someone to lend us a player, I could get them on CD for you.
Any nice lenders out there ?
When you said what was on them, you hooked me.

and NO, I don't need to steal your player

I'll be here
Do us a favor, post a link here of what you are looking at before you buy it.
Ya know, just in case.
For instance, all I would need is a way to play the tape,
with a line out or head phone out.
I have a pretty good studio set up, but all digital.
