Hi, wanted to check back in. I had my driveway and housepad put in by James Kim, 959-5063. I think he did a great job! My lot had some difficulties and a lot of variation in elevations. NOw I have a housepad at the highest point of my lot, and in the center. I also have a windy driveway that will hide a future house. He charged me 3,000.00 and was there on the machine working for about 9 hours total (a day and a half). He has a giant D9 which does not have a lot of finesse but was necessary to get my lot level and buildable. I will also add that it's easy to get turned around in those jungle lots, and the D9 went on a few "wildgoose chases" before we actually figured out where the highest point was and where the housepad should go. Make sure your boundaries are well marked. That was the only thing that saved us twice from going onto someone else's property! HE also put all the knocked down trees in a pit off to the side of my housepad and I'm going to dump cindersoil in there and will have a giant pit of decent growing medium for some fruit trees or garden, as everything decomposes. Overall, the job was neat and welldone (IMO).

I guess I should comment on the perrenial peanut again. The housepad that I have now is mostly rocky small rocks. If that makes sense. It's sort of like a large type of gravel. I'm not filling it in with anything so that I dont get weeds, but i also dont really have a place to plant all the flats of perrenial peanut that i bought. I put it around the edges where there is dirt and along the edges of the driveway. I will bring in some cinder but I think I'll leave the housepad bare so I dont get invasive junk growing. I'll toss the cinder soil in to cover the pit of decomposing trees that were knocked down by D9. Wish I could have used a smaller dozer but there really was no way. Will go out this w/e and plant a couple banana trees and a gardenia bush that shouldnt require much cultivation, but this is only along the edges where the soil was left.

What would be a good estimate for like some light bulldozing work? Like to clear a drive and a pad?

Where is your lot located? I called all over trying to figure out what kind of dozer to use and the costs. It mostly depends upon the actual land that you yourself have. I think it would have taken 10 days on a smaller dozer to do what a D9 did in a day and a half. It was an unbelievable amount of work. I had never actually seen one of these machines. They are incredible.

One more note, Rainy Jim, it is one acre minimum that is needed for a cesspool. Not three. Research before spreading misinformation.
There is also a minimum distance from the shoreline.

Bldg division requires no cinder to be under house pad.

Yeah, I guess I meant, "the entire cleared area, including the housepad". I sort of ended up with a giant area, but it is really nice.
