Real estate commission rates for land
#1
I'm looking into selling one of my lots and I was quoted 10 percent. I thought the usual was six percent. Is ten normal?

Rack rate is 10% but that is negotiable with the listing agent.

Also think about an acre of land going for $5000 in HOVE. A 6% commission would only be $300. When split between the listing and buying agents that's only $150 each. Completely different story when talking about an acre in North Hilo with an ocean view for 100k. Hence the negotiation on the percentage based on unique circumstance...

Thanks, I was kind of surprised since this is for about 100,000.00 .....

EightFingers, everything in real estate is negotiable. I would consider a property worth 100k between selling a property percentage and between selling a house percentage, maybe you can request a rate closer to the house rate. Also, shop around with realtors. While one might not be willing to accept that rate, another one will!
